HARDBACK – A near fine book, bound in the publishers blue cloth boards with black lettering present to the front panel and to the spine. The boards are very clean indeed with a touch of toning to the spine, but with sharp corners, and with minimal pushing to the spine. Internally, the closed page blocks are mildly toned, more so to the top page block, also with light off-setting to the end-papers. The inner text is very clean indeed with no foxing or finger marks inset. Free of any previous owner names or inscriptions. The dust wrapper is also in near fine condition with very mild soiling to the rear panel, mild abrasion to the spine, joint, and fore-edge folds and a few very short closed tears to the extremities, also to the head and tail of the spine. The dust wrapper is a very nice example, free of any forms of restoration and presents as a very attractive example. The dust wrapper is not price clipped, but has no printed price present to the front flap, denoting a book that was destined for export to a potential Commonwealth country. This book is the correct UK first edition with a text block measuring 4.7cm’s in thickness, also listing Biggles in the Baltic and Biggles in the South Seas on the verso of the half title, with the first issue dust wrapper which mentions titles up to and including Biggles Flies North which was issued the previous year.
