Description
HARDBACK – A very good book bound in the publisher’s bright red cloth boards with silver lettering to the spine. There is a little pushing to the spine tips, also with a faint crease line to the spine. Internally the inner text is clean, but with a small mark to the map front end paper that shows through to the verso of the page. There is some minor foxing to the top page block, with a small spot to the vertical page block. There is light toning to the closed text block, with a neat previous owner name present to the half title page. Inscribed by the author to the recipient and close friend Edwin Moore who was a senior non-fiction editor at Collins subsequently HarperCollins from 1986 until 2004. In 1995 he commissioned George MacDonald Fraser to write the introduction and author biographies for an omnibus edition of five adventure stories including King Solomon’s Mines, The Prisoner of Zenda (which was the inspiration for Royal Flash), and The Lost World. The inscription reads TO EDWIN / ALL THE BEST / GEORGE MACDONALD FRASER / The dust wrapper is in very good condition with fading to the spine, also with minor rubbing to the extremities, but with no loss or tears. The publisher’s printed price of £ 2.25net is present to the front flap. A superb association copy.
