Description
HARDBACK – A very good or better book bound in the publisher’s bright red cloth boards with silver lettering to the spine. There is a little pushing to the spine tips, also with a very small indentation to the front board. Internally the inner text is clean and fresh, but with some very minor toning to the closed text block. Free of any previous owner names or inscriptions. Inscribed by the author to the recipient and close friend Edwin Moore who was a senior non-fiction editor at Collins subsequently HarperCollins from 1986 until 2004. In 1995 he commissioned George MacDonald Fraser to write the introduction and author biographies for an omnibus edition of five adventure stories including King Solomon’s Mines, The Prisoner of Zenda (which was the inspiration for Royal Flash), and The Lost World. The inscription reads TO EDWIN WITH / EVERY GOOD WISH / GEORGE MACDONALD FRASER / The dust wrapper is in very good condition with shallow chipping to the spine tip, also with light chipping to the top corners of the front and rear flap folds. There is rubbing to the extremities, also with toning to the front and rear flaps. The publisher’s printed price of £ 1.75 is present to the front flap. A nice example, a superb association copy.
