Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. HARDBACK – A very good book bound in the publisher’s red cloth boards with bright white lettering present to the spine. The boards are clean and without fading. Internally clean with a little toning to the closed text block. Light foxing to the front and rear end-papers with the odd light mark found to the inner text. Free of any previous owner names or inscriptions. The dust wrapper is also in very good condition with shallow loss to the spine tips, also to the corners of the front and rear flap folds. The dust wrapper is free of any restoration, but there has been very minor reinforcement to a few closed tears to prevent any future damage. A clean wrapper with the publisher’s printed price of 12s. 6d net present to the lower front flap. Included with the book is a hand-written letter from the author mentioning Lord of the Flies and Pincher Martin. The content reads – “10th July / Dear Christopher Whelen / Thank you for / your letter. I remember your music / for Lord of the Flies and Pincher Martin / very well. / I’ll do my best to keep the / evening of 16th July free and listen / to the Finding / Yours Sincerely / William Golding.” Christopher Whelen composed the music for Archie Campbell’s Productions of Lord of the Flies and Pincher Martin. The letter has been folded into the book and is also a little creased. The letter has very nice content.  Seller Inventory # 002458
