Description
HARDBACK – A fine book bound in the publisher’s red cloth boards that are exceptionally clean and fresh with just very minor pushing to the spine tips. The corners are sharp and without bumping. The gilt lettering to the spine is very bright indeed. Internally, the inner pages are very clean and white with just the merest off-setting to the end-papers. No previous owner names or inscriptions inset. The red top stain is as bright as the day the book was published. A very tightly bound book with no signs of spine lean. Possibly unread. The dust wrapper is also in fine condition with no loss or tears. There is very light rubbing to the spine tip. The red lettering present to the spine is a shade or two lighter than to the front or rear panels, but still red in appearance. There is a very faint small mark to the lower rear panel, but overall the dust wrapper is a stunning example with the publisher’s printed price of 21s. net present to both the front and rear flaps. Quite simply the best example of this title we have handled in over twenty-five years of buying and selling Tolkien first editions. A Collector’s Copy. One of only 3,250 copies printed (Hammond A5) [page 83]. Should you wish to see a full set of images regarding this title, please refer to our website, as we are limited to only five images herewith.
